Although my first Champion was a
Blenheim, my lasting interest is in whole colours. Charlotterose Black
Satin was my first and foundation bitch producing a long line of whole
colour Cavaliers. Her grandson Downsbank Black Hussar was key to extending
the lines and produced, among others, Knight Magic at Harana as well as
Hollyberry of Downsbank who in 1989 became Pedigree Best Brood Bitch of
the Year.
In 1981 I showed my first King
Charles Spaniels and Amantra Diorama gained 2 CC’s and 2 RCC’s. Downsbank
Drummond was exported to the United States and became a US Champion. His
grandson Maramond Satchmo left his breeder Martha Guimond and returned to
compete in England and gained his Championship status in 2007.
The Downsbanks are an area of National Trust
Heathland in Mid Staffordshire popular with dog lovers. The name was
registered as my affix in 1976.
